Wax FAQ

No double dipping policy
Due to safety precautions we make sure not double dip. Dipping the stick into the wax contaminates the entire wax pot. Our sticks are dipped once into the sterile wax and immediately discarded after application to protect clients from harmful bacteria and diseases. We will go through many sticks to make sure our clients stay safe.

Do you use hard wax or strip wax?
I use both. More and more clients are becoming aware of the advantages of hard wax over strip wax when it comes to pain and irritation. Hard wax is indeed less irritating to the skin and most people find it to be less painful. I always use hard wax on the face, the underarms and the labia with Brazilian waxes unless otherwise needed. I do use strip wax for larger areas of the body.

Is there anything I can do to help with the pain?
Taking a mild pain killer 30-45 minutes prior to waxing will help a little with the pain. There are also topical numbing creams available that you can apply 30 minutes before your appointment. Avoid caffeine before waxing. If you are female, avoiding waxing the week before your period will reduce sensitivity. Taking these steps will decrease the amount of pain you experience, but nothing makes waxing completely pain free.

How long will waxing last?
The answer to this question varies from person to person. We all have different rates of hair growth, and some body areas grow back more quickly than others. Your hair has various cycles of growth as well, so you want to make sure all of your hair is grown out prior to waxing, or else the hair that was not long enough to be removed will grow in a matter of days. For most people results will last from 3-7 weeks.

How long should my hair be for waxing?
The best bet is about half an inch. For most people, this means waiting two weeks after shaving before you wax. Again, you want to make sure that all of the hair is long enough, not just some of it.

I want to get waxed for my wedding/prom/vacation. Any advice?
When waxing for a special occasion, the most important thing is that you wax at least once well in advance of the big event. Everyone is different, and while reactions are rare, you don’t want to find out that you have a reaction to waxing the day before your wedding! I recommend waxing once six weeks before the big day, and then again 3 days prior. Please remember that you do not want to tan 48 hours before and after waxing services and plan accordingly.

What is a henna brow tint?
Henna brows are a form of eyebrow tinting that is used to stain the skin beneath the brow hairs. The purpose of this is to cast a shadow or create an illusion of depth and fullness in the area, visually filling in any sparseness. Henna is a natural dye made from a plant known as hina or the henna tree. Henna stain lasts 1-3 weeks on the skin and 3-6 weeks on the brow hair. Results may vary depending on skin type, and facial products.

What is in a calming mud mask?
Contains: Chamomile flowers, sweet almond oil, aloe, leaf juice, rose petals, & humectants. Plus, ingredients combat bumps, blemishes, and ingrown hairs.

What is a hydro jelly mask?
After your intimate wax, you can choose a customized blend that suits your skin. This calming, conditioning, and hydrating mask creates a vacuum seal over your skin. In doing so, it forces all the beneficial ingredients deeper into the layers of your skin.
