Lash FAQ

What to Expect at Your First Appointment

When you first arrive, your lash artist will go over the consent form, different lash types and recommend what eyelash extensions best suit your natural lashes as well as your eye-shape.

Once you lay down on the padded massage table, the lash technician will apply under-eye collagen pads. These pads treat dark circles and under-eye puffiness. But, most importantly, they hold down your bottom lashes to ensure nothing will stick together.

Once the eye pads are on, you will then keep your eyes closed for the duration of the appointment. Full Set appointments are 1.5-2 hours long. Fill appointments are only 45-60 minutes.

While you lay, relaxing music will be playing. The only thing you will feel is your technician going back and forth between both eyes, applying the extensions one lash at a time.

Whichever you prefer, you can bring headphones and listen to your favorite podcast, stay awake and chat with the girls, or you can take a "lash nap." Getting your lashes done is calming, and falling asleep is very common! We will wake you up about 5 minutes prior to the end of the appointment.

At the end of your appointment your under-eye pads will be removed. You will be given a mirror to check out your beautiful new lashes! Your technician will check you out and pre-book your fill appointment. Do not forget to pre-book your fill appointments!

It is extremely important to keep up with your fills in order to avoid having to pay for a full set again. Fills must be within weeks of your previous appointment.

Arrive with clean lashes
Please come with clean eyes free of all makeup and makeup residue. We ask that you wash your eye area and lashes with an oil free cleanser. If you use an eye makeup remover please wash after use. Having clean, oil free lashes is extremely important in order for the adhesive to bond correctly. This will help secure your investment, as we cannot guarantee your extensions will stay on correctly if you do not do this.

Shower prior to your appointment
Eliminating any unnecessary contact with water or steam for the first 48 hours. This will ensure that the bond between the semi-permanent lashes and your natural lashes has enough time to properly set.

Wear Comfortable Clothing
You will be laying down for this service, with dimmed lights and soft music during the eyelash application. Comfortable clothes allow you to make the most of your time to relax and be pampered!

After-Care Instructions
1. Avoid getting lashes wet for the first 24-48 hours. The longer the better!
2. Do not use oil-based eye/face products or waterproof mascara.
3. To nourish lashes, cleanse and groom regularly.
4. Refrain from rubbing/tugging/twisting the lash extensions.
5. Try to sleep on your back. Rubbing the lashes into your pillow will cause premature shedding.
6. If you cry, wash your lashes immediately. The salt in your tears can cause the lash fans to close.
7. Never brush your lashes while they are wet.

Daily Lash Grooming
This is make or break for the retention of your eyelash extensions! To groom your lashes properly you will need to cleanse, dry, and brush your extensions.

How to Cleanse
1. Pump the Prolong lash foam cleanser on the backside of your hand.
2. Scoop the foam with the white brush and GENTLY tap the foam onto the top layer of your lashes.
3. Cup water into the palm of your hand to rinse. We also provide a mini water bottle for rinsing.
4. Gently press the top layer of the lashes with a microfiber towel, or paper towel to remove excess water.

How to Redefine/Dry Lashes
Use the low and cool setting on your hair dryer. Make sure to blow the air in an upwards motion. You can also let the extensions air-dry.

How to Brush
Gently brush lashes in a down and out motion. NEVER brush from underneath the extensions.

*Lash Cleansing Kits ($25) and Sleep Masks ($20) are available for purchase!

Do eyelash extensions damage my natural lashes?
When applied correctly, eyelash extensions do not damage your natural lash. Certified lash artists will apply to only one natural lash, and will apply an extension that is the appropriate weight and length to ensure the integrity of your natural lash. Eyelash extensions can be damaging if your lash artist is not using proper techniques. Lashes that are too heavy, or clusters (pre-made fans) have a larger amount of adhesive and can cause your natural lash to break.

What is the difference between classic and volume lashes?
Classic is one thicker extension applied to one natural lash. Volume means there are up to 4-8 fine lashes to one natural lash, which create what we call a fan. There are also hybrid sets that mix the two styles together.

Can I wear makeup with my extensions?
Yes, you can wear regular eye makeup including eye shadow and foundation. Any eyeliner used will need ot be water-based and oil-free. You shouldn't feel the need to apply mascara to your extensions. If you feel your lashes are not full enough, you may want to get volume lashes applied for a fuller/thicker look.

What if I want my eyelash extensions removed?
We do offer a service to have the extensions removed, involving a short 30 minute appointment in which we apply a gel remover. Once the adhesive is dissolved the extensions are gently wiped away with lint free applicators exposing the natural lashes.

Do eyelash extensions look fake?
Eyelash extensions can be applied to look any way that you desire. Most reputable lash artists will be able to give you your desired look or very similar. You can choose to have shorter natural lashes, large dramatic lashes, etc. Typically speaking, eyelash extensions don't look fake unless that is the look that you are going for.

How do I choose the look I want?
Your technician will consult with you to understand what type of style you are interested in and what look will look best with your natural lashes. The overall look of the lashes can range from very natural to very voluminous.

Do eyelash extensions hurt?
Eyelash extensions should not hurt when applied correctly. They are applied with professional tools by isolating one lash, and adhering one extension to your natural lash for classic lashes or fans for volume lashes. It is important to go to a trusted lash artist who was certified through a reputable course. This will ensure that they are applying the correct weight and length of lashes to yuor natural lash.

How long do eyelash extensions last?
Most eyelash extension adhesives have a bond time of anywhere from 3-6 weeks. However, they will only last as long as your natural lash does. Like all hair on the human body, your eyelashes grow in stages. It is normal to lose 1-4 natural lashes per day, which is why a fill is recommended every 2-3 weeks.

What is a lash lift?
A lash lift is an alternative to using a lash curler, achieving a curl and illusion of longer natural lashes lasting 6-8 weeks depending on your lash growth cycle. With the Lash Botox treatment embedded into the service, your natural lashes are filled with keratin to nourish and stimulate natural lash growth making them healthier, smoother, thicker, and fuller. The only required after care is to avoid getting your lashes wet (steam, swimming, showering, mascara) for 48 hours.

What is a lash tint?
The added tint creates a darker, more in depth look, and has the best results with blonde, red, or light brown natural lashes, lasting 4-6 weeks. The same aftercare applies as the lash lift.

What is Lash Botox?
Lash Botox is a hydrolyzed keratin mask treatment designed to specifically nourish and stimulate natural lash growth. The keratin is decreased into small particles in order to be absorbed by even the thinnest of lashes. The nourishing mask fills the natural lashes with keratin to make them smoother, thicker, and fuller. No maintenance or special care is required post service, and the effects can last up to 6-8 weeks. The only required aftercare that applies is the same as a lash lift.

What should I expect getting a lash lift?
For a lash lift, your professional will place under eye gel pads over your lower lashes to make sure only your upper lashes are lifted. You will keep your eyes closed throughout the entire service, so that no irritation occurs. Small silicone rods are placed onto your upper lash line with water soluble adhesive, and each individual natural lash is then lifted up on the rods forming a curl shape. The curl solution is then put between the root and middle of the lash, and processes for 15 minutes. The curl solution is then removed, and the neutralizing solution is applied the same way, and also left to set for 15 minutes. After the neutralizing solution is wiped off, the last step is to swipe conditioning (keratin) solution from root to tip throughout all the natural lashes.
